Amazing, and a Little Terrifying
This will be a short note. Our youth group has an outing today, and I am one of the drivers. :)
I am deeply impressed by God's intent to know us, and to be known by us in the immediacy and temerity of our lives. For one who has made all things, who sees eternity as having a beginning, a middle and an end to see us and to desire to be in relationship with people who are at best the little wisps of ash left behind in the swirling of air and embers over a campfire is truly awe inspiring. It is amazing.
It is also terrifying. God sees us in our entirety, from beginning, to middle and through 'till the end. God sees who we are and what we choose to do. God knows it, and even from time to time gets really upset with how poorly we manage and steward this gift that is life in communion and community between God, our neighbors and ourselves.
...and yet, God loves us through it all. Every stumble, every light step, God is there with us. God holds us accountable for what we do "wrong" and celebrates us when we choose to walk in right pathways for the sake of God's Name.
That is amazing....and a little terrifying...
...and humbling that God should love us. So much.
