The Challenge Continues, Day 134: II Kings; Psalm 111; Acts 26

After all the shenanigans that Israel and Judah have been up to, today we are starting to see the results. The Assyrian kings are ascendant. Pressure is now being placed on both Israel and Judah. The divided kingdom is about to be atomized. All of their departures from the Law of Moses...all of their sins, petty and great have created a debt with God that is about to come due. The odd thing is that now Gods going to use a foreign king to make the point, and the judgment stick.

Tiglath-pileser and Shalmaneser have a job to do, and they do it well. Israel as a nation is transported into exile, and a new population is settled in the land. Welcome to the Samaritans. Judah is reduced. Things are not good...even Hezekiah can't turn the tide.

Of course, what matters now is that the people of God somehow find their way back to faithful practice..sadly, that will not happen soon.

My prayer is that our patience with them will hold. It seems so obvious...repent and return.

But then, if it were that easy we wouldn't be only halfway through the history.
